{"id":4280,"date":"2026-08-31T15:54:59","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T14:54:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scambsbadminton.net\/?page_id=4280"},"modified":"2026-08-31T15:54:59","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T14:54:59","slug":"code-of-conduct-and-disciplinary-procedure-annex-a-to-league-rules","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/scambsbadminton.net\/index.php\/code-of-conduct-and-disciplinary-procedure-annex-a-to-league-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure (Annex A to League Rules)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Expectations for behaviour<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any individual participating in the South Cambridgeshire Badminton League (playing, coaching, spectating, or otherwise present at League events) must conform to Badminton England\u2019s (BE)\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/images.gc.badmintonenglandservices.co.uk\/ad5b8240-2e8c-11f0-bc37-25829728efc0.pdf\">Code of Ethics and Behaviour<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/images.gc.badmintonenglandservices.co.uk\/f3570ef0-a460-11f0-8fe4-b5ddd8aca521.pdf\">Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Badminton Policy<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/images.gc.badmintonenglandservices.co.uk\/552e6260-2467-11f0-92ca-e9397739ef2a.pdf\">Safeguarding Adults at Risk Policy<\/a>. Behaviour at league matches, tournaments or other League events that does not comply with these codes\/policies, or which otherwise brings, or has the potential to bring, the sport of badminton into disrepute, may be cause for disciplinary action to be taken by the League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Disciplinary procedure<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BE\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/images.gc.badmintonenglandservices.co.uk\/32f6a420-5327-11f0-be39-591ea3f4a194.pdf\">Disciplinary Regulations<\/a> set out how BE and its Member Organisations deal with disciplinary matters. The League works to best practice set out by BE in dealing with such issues. The League Committee may investigate an issue reported to it, and may also refer the matter to BE for advice or further investigation. When conducting its own investigation, the League Committee will follow the League\u2019s Disciplinary Procedure, set out below. This procedure mirrors that of Badminton England where possible. Any individual on the League Committee who the Committee considers to be conflicted will not be involved in discussion or decisions made on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All communication regarding conduct and disciplinary issues should be communicated in writing to the League Committee, either by email to <a href=\"mailto:southcambsbadleague@gmail.com\">southcambsbadleague@gmail.com<\/a> or on paper to a member of the League Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Procedure<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-alpha\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The League Committee may appoint one or more representatives to investigate and report on a complaint.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where possible, the League Committee will consider a full report on the complaint within 15 working days of it being lodged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The League Committee has the power to take appropriate disciplinary action as it sees fit, including:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Issuing written warnings;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Suspending the involvement of an individual or a club in League activities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Banning an individual from involvement in League activities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Terminating the affiliation of a club with the League; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dismissing the complaint.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The outcome of the League Committee\u2019s consideration of a complaint and its reasoning for its decision should be notified to the person(s) who lodged the complaint, those against whom the complaint was made, and the Welfare Officers (or other nominated representatives) of the relevant clubs. Such notification should, where possible, take place within 5 working days of the decision being taken.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There will be the right of appeal within 10 working days to the League Committee following the outcome of the complaint. The individual(s) making the appeal should set out their reason for doing so. The General Committee should consider the appeal, where possible, within 15 working days. Once a decision on the appeal has been made, there is no further right to appeal to the League Committee.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All disciplinary matters considered by the League Committee will, so far as practicable, be regarded as confidential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If desired, an individual(s) may be able to pursue the matter further with Badminton England under its <a href=\"https:\/\/images.gc.badmintonenglandservices.co.uk\/32f6a420-5327-11f0-be39-591ea3f4a194.pdf\">Disciplinary Regulations<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure Expectations for behaviour Any individual participating in the South Cambridgeshire Badminton League (playing, coaching, spectating, or otherwise present at League events) must conform to Badminton England\u2019s (BE)\u2019s Code of Ethics and Behaviour, Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Badminton Policy and Safeguarding Adults at Risk Policy.
